How Buildium Reports Protecting Portal Data

The following information is attributed to Buildium and summarizes the protections described in Buildium’s published Security Policy.

Encrypted Connections

Buildium states that sensitive information transmitted through its HTTPS website is protected using Transport Layer Security, commonly known as TLS or SSL.

Account Authentication

Buildium states that users receive unique usernames, passwords are protected using bcrypt hashing, and two-factor authentication is enforced to help protect accounts.

Steps You Can Take to Protect Your Portal Account

Technical safeguards work best when each portal user also protects their login information, devices, and account access.

  1. Use a strong, unique password that you do not use for another website or account.
  2. Complete Buildium’s two-factor authentication process and protect your one-time verification codes.
  3. Access your account through an official Rice Real Estate & Property Management portal link or a verified Buildium address.
  4. Do not send passwords, complete bank account numbers, or authentication codes through ordinary email or a general website contact form.
  5. Sign out after using a shared or public device and keep your browser, operating system, and security software updated.
  6. Change your password and report the issue promptly if you notice unfamiliar account activity or believe your credentials were exposed.
